PRICES have been announced for the MG3 Hybrid+ with the new model starting from £18,495 in SE trim - the cheapest full hybrid in Britain.

Higher specification Trophy versions will cost from £20,495 and both will come with MG's new dual screen layout as well as sat nav.

All models also feature Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, the MGPilot system and a reversing camera.

MG Pilot Safety includes autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, lane departure warning, emergency lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Trophy cars come with a 360 degree camera, heated front seats and steering wheel, keyless entry, privacy glass, rain sensing wipers and LED projector headlights.

With a larger than average battery at 1.83kWh and high-performance electric motor MG3 can drive fully electric for city driving, which sets it apart from many other hybrid superminis.

It uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor the MG3 Hybrid+ has an official fuel return of 64.2mpg, emissions of 100g/km.

With three drive modes available - Eco, Standard and Sport - the MG3 has a 0-62mph time of 8.0 seconds with a top speed of 106mph with a total power output of 134bhp.

MG says the car's chassis and suspension has been specifically tuned for UK roads -similar to the larger MG4 - by the company's Longbridge-based engineering team.

David Allison, head of product and planning for MG Motor UK, said: "There is stilla very strong demand for the affordable,practical and fun-to-drive supermini and we believe the MG3 Hybrid+ will appeal to many.

"Like all MG models, it will challenge the established superminis with its competitive price, whilst also delivering outstanding value with no compromises when it comes to equipment. We're confident that if you simply wish to drive this MG for something other than daily commuting, it will offer a fun and involving experience."

First deliveries are expected to start in the next few months.
