SWEDISH EV brand, Polestar, is introducing a single motor, rear-wheel-drive version of its new electric SUV, just as deliveries of the twin motor, all-wheel-drive model begin in mainland Europe and the USA.

Priced at £69,900, the new single motor Polestar 3 variant uses the same 111 kWh battery pack as the dual motor version with the same 250 kW peak charging capability for a 30 minute 10-80 per cent charge and a driving range of up to 403 miles between charges.

The motor drives the rear axle providing 295bhp and 490 Nm of torque resulting in a 0-62mph acceleration time of 7.8 seconds.

The company says that the single motor model will have more personalisation potential for buyers with a choice of six exterior colours, five interior trims and four wheel options including the new 21-inch alloy wheel available as part of the new Pro Pack.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath says: "The rear-wheel drive configuration fits with our performance focused driving dynamics that make the car stand out in the luxury SUV sector."
