NISSAN is set to revive its high performance Nismo brand in Europe - but the badge won't be on a growling, track-ready supercar. Instead, think hushed high performance.
For the name, which has graced high performance models like the Skyline GT-R and 370Z, is set to reappear on a high-performance version of the Japanese company's battery-powered Ariya family car and, according to the company, it will be the embodiment of ultimate Nissan performance.
Details are scant at the moment but Nissan says that the Ariya Nismo will come with a number of improved parts with high-performance tuning and a fine-tuned e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system for better power and torque distribution to the wheels.
According to Mayra GonzaÌlez, Nissan Europe's divisional vice president of marketing and sales: "Ariya Nismo strikes the perfect balance of the immediate response and acceleration of an all-electric car with the mechanical fine-tuning of a sports car, resulting in an outstanding car for day-to-day driving."
More details and pricing will be released by Nissan ahead of the Ariya Nismo's UK launch which is expected to be towards the end of the year.
