LUXURY car maker Bentley has promised that its first fully electric car - due to be revealed in 2026 - will be the world's first Luxury Urban SUV.

The company reckons that the new model, which is being designed, developed and produced at its headquarters in Crewe, Cheshire, will create an entirely new market segment.

Details are yet to be released, but the company has revealed an initial outline design sketch of the new model which it is believed will be much shorter than the current Bentayga SUV.

It will be the first of a range of new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and full electric (BEV) models which the British elite brand will launch every year over the next decade with the ambition to build only fully electric cars from 2035 - five years later than the company's original plan.

Following the discontinuation of the iconic W12 engine after over 20 years of production in Crewe, the Continental GT coupe, Convertible and Flying Spur models are now exclusively fitted with an ultra-performance plug-in V8 hybrid powertrain

And with its' full electric product strategy put on hold for an extra five years, the company is also extending the lifecycle of its current PHEV models until 2035.

Meanwhile, Bentley is looking back to its glory days and will soon be delivering the first recreated example of a legendary Bentley model which was last produced almost a century ago.

The first customer Speed Six Continuation Series car will soon be dispatched to the USA - marking the first delivery of a new Bentley Speed Six since 1930.

Commissioned just over 12 months ago, the classically curated Speed Six is resplendent in Parsons Napier Green bodywork on top of a black-painted chassis. The iconic face of the Speed Six is dominated by the twin round headlamps, finished in Chrome with a protective mesh and separated by a large number ‘4' on the radiator.

The cockpit is as authentic as the exterior, with every gauge, switch and control exactly as per the specification of the Speed Sixes that raced at - and won - Le Mans in 1930. Leather trimmed in a rich deep brown with dominant red tones.

The Speed Six is regarded as one of the most important Bentleys in history, being the most successful Bentley racing car ever produced. Using the same manufacturing processes as the original car from the late 1920's, the continuation model is crafted by hand from scratch and takes eight months to complete.
