THE trophy cabinet at Kia's UK headquarters is getting close to full following yet more awards for its' latest electric model.
Hard on the heels of being voted Best Electric Small SUV in last month's WhatCar? Awards, the new Kia EV3 has been named Best Electric Family Car and overall Car of the Year in the 2025 DrivingElectric Awards.
The awards, now in their seventh year, celebrate the best new electrified vehicles that money can buy with each category judged by the team of industry expert road testers at DrivingElectric.
This is the second year in a row that a Kia EV has been named ‘Car of the Year' at the DrivingElectric Awards, following an overall win for the EV9 in 2024.
The Kia e-Niro was named ‘Car of the Year' in the inaugural 2019 awards, and this latest brace of awards for the EV3 pushes Kia's success rate at the annual ceremony up to an astonishing 13 awards in seven years.
"The Kia EV3 is a superb package with vanishingly few weak spots when it comes to meeting the needs of family car buyers," says DrivingElectric Editor Paul Barker. "It makes a fine introduction to electric cars."
Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK, said: "The EV3 is an incredibly important car for Kia and its great to see continued recognition as one of the best EVs on-sale today.
"This Car of the Year award follows a successful January for EV3, when it claimed the second best-selling EV position, and favourite for retail customers, in the UK - evidence of how well it meets the needs of UK customers."
While the EV3 may be Kia's most affordable EV, it also offers the longest range of all of Kia's electric vehicle line-up - up to 375 miles on a single charge. It's Kia's newest EV on sale in the UK and represents the next step in the company's ‘Plan S' strategy which will see 15 EVs launched worldwide by 2027, nine of which will be available in the UK.
