NEW data from eBay reveals residents ofRomford, East London, are the UK's most security-conscious car owners, purchasing the highest number of vehicle security accessories per capita.

The top spot is followed byLlandudno, Conwy andRedhill, Surrey in second and third respectively - whileTruro, Cornwall andDorchester, Dorset round out the top five.

eBay's 2025 search data reveals a clear trend: British motorists continue to favour traditional, non-electronic vehicle security solutions, underscoring their ongoing trust in reliable, visible forms of protection.

The data shows tried-and-tested security accessories were searched twice as oftenas modern electronic counterparts, highlighting the strong confidence drivers place in classic deterrents.

Steering wheel locks once again topped the list as the most-searched-for vehicle security item on eBay last year, with searches rising by8.2%compared with 2024.

Car alarms followed as the second most searched-for product,with wheel clamps securing third place.Search data also showed that car GPS trackers had increased in popularity, as the seventh most looked-for security item.

Abir Tewari, UK director of commercial operations, parts and accessories at eBay, said:"Our findings indicate that drivers across Britain still place strong importance on vehicle security, favouring traditional and visible protection methods. Although digital safety features play a key role, classic tools like steering wheel locks and Faraday pouches remain popular eBay choices for adding an easy extra level of security and reassurance for car owners."
