BYD has confirmed UK pricing and specifications for its first seven-seater car in the UK - the Ti 7.

With prices starting from £47,995, it also introduces a debut for BYD in the country - the first car in its range to launch with DM-p (Dual Mode performance) powertrain.

The seven-seat arrangement for the Ti 7 has been developed specifically for the European and UK markets, while the high level of standard equipment and powertrain specification create an SUV.

A key to the Ti 7's mechanical make-up is its use of DM-p Super Hybrid with DM technology.

Consisting of three motors - one at the front and one at the rear - DM-p augments the electrical energy with a longitudinally mounted 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

In total, this system produces 408ps delivering performance that vastly exceeds the closest competition. As a result, 0-62mph is dispatched in only 4.8 seconds, with a top speed of 118mph.

For the most part, the petrol engine uses its 150ps output to generate energy for BYD's 35.6kWh Blade Battery, blending electric response and refinement with petrol flexibility and range. On electric energy alone, it can cover up to 74 miles.

The Ti 7 will be available in the UK solely in flagship Excellence AWD specification.

A boxy profile and chunky design that finds favour among SUV buyers, yet delivers a contemporary look.

The rugged experience is boosted by 20-inch alloy wheels housed within chunky wheel arch extensions, plus privacy glass from the rear doors and beyond.

Exterior illumination is provided both by LED lighting all round; the headlights feature a dynamic welcome animation, while door-mirror puddle lights offer extra visibility when approaching the car at night.

The windscreen and front windows are made from acoustic glass to further improve occupancy refinement, while there is a panoramic glass panel in the roof.

Leather upholstery features as standard, and is available in three finishes: black, light grey or brown. Seat heating and ventilation is available to the front seats and the outer seats in the second row, and three-zone climate control allows each row to maintain its own temperature.

Further temperature control is offered for occupants' drinks or snacks, courtesy of an in-car refrigerator and drinks warmer located between the driver and front passenger.

A 15.6-inch touchscreen is standard, while a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster is positioned ahead of the driver.

Middle-row passengers benefit from seats which can adjust in four different directions, with generous knee- and headroom across all three seats.

The third-row seats add an extra dimension of versatility to the Ti 7, granting extra passenger capacity when required or, when folded away, offering a boot capacity of 970 litres.

In seven-seat mode, boot capacity stands at 126 litres, while folding the second and third rows away increases the total capacity to 1,830 litres.

Full specifications of the Ti 7 will be confirmed in due course with first deliveries in January 2027.
