A NEW base vehicle Multivan Camper model is being launched by Volkswagen Commercial Vehiclesas a blank canvas for professional converters to craft a unique campervan

Whether it's being used for beach weekends, family camping, or long-distance road trips, VW says it is the ideal starting point for professional converters to build an adventure companion, working with a genuine Volkswagen base.

Open for orders now, the Multivan Camper is built on the long wheelbase Multivan.

The base model is available with a choice of two engines: the ever-popular 150ps TDI with DSG gearbox, prices starting from £43,900 excluding VAT, and the 240ps eHybrid DSG 4Motion with prices starting from £50,725 excluding VAT.

With the opening roof pre-installed from the factory, and headlining pre-fitted to the vehicle, converters have a headstart on creating the perfect camper.

The fully trimmed but empty rear cabin opens the door to a wide variety of uses to take full advantage of the space. The shell is supplied with no floor coverings or rear seats, minimising wastage from unneeded parts.

It also comes fitted with two swivel seats for the driver and front passenger, plus twin sliding doors and tailgate.

Just like the Multivan long wheelbase on which the Multivan Camper is modelled, the Camper comes with 4,053-litres of capacity behind the two seats.

The interior space measures 2,625mm length, 1,665mm width and 1,312mm height, creating a spacious interior space for a wide range of equipment and conversion options.

There are a range of options available to personalise the model from factory, allowing converters to start with a base as close as possible to the intended end product.

Converters have the option to customise to build their ideal van, including Climatronic 3 zone air conditioning, heated front seats, satellite navigation and alloy wheel upgrades.

Open for orders now, the Multivan Camper is a specialised product supplied with incomplete M1 homologation. This product will need a conversion and a secondstage type approval to be registered.

The specification includes: twin sliding doors and tailgate, a manual pop-up roof, two front swivel seats for driver and passenger and side trim in the passenger compartment.
