AT LAST it can be revealed - these are the first official pictures of Jaguar's eagerly anticipated performance crossover and, although the car remains heavily disguised with its laser-line paint job, they clearly show the finished looks of the all-new F-PACE in its final production form.
This first-ever performance crossover from the famous British luxury and sports car manufacturer will be revealed to the public for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and will undoubtedly be the star of the show, snatching the limelight from arch German rivals, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
It will feature chassis dynamics technology adapted from the acclaimed Jaguar F-TYPE sports car and a sophisticated All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system which delivers torque-on-demand.
The F-PACE is now in the final stages of its development by Jaguar's Vehicle Integrity team, led by sports car development expert and chief engineer Mike Cross, ahead of its launch next year.
"Wehaven't made any compromises or exceptions: the new F-PACE must be a true Jaguar and deliver the Jaguar dynamics DNA", says Cross.
"We've tested ride and handling to extremities in all environments and in all conditions, and the result is that the new F-PACE is as engaging and rewarding to drive as it is going to be enjoyable to own. As soon as you get into the vehicle you know immediately that it's a great place to be," he adds.
The F-PACE will be built at the company's Solihull factory in the UK using Jaguar's lightweight aluminium architecture and will come with sophisticated double wishbone front suspension, integral link rear suspension and the same electric power-assisted steering system used in the F-TYPE, XE, and new XF. Combined with the torque vectoring technology first developed for the F-TYPE and the torque on-demand all-wheel drive system, the new F-PACE can be expected to deliver outstanding agility in all weathers and on all surfaces.
