LOOKOUT all you Audi RS and BMW M drivers - Vauxhall's getting all rowdy again with its latest VXR8 super saloon.
There is nothing understated about this car believe me. It comes in a couple of very loud colours including banana yellow and you can see it coming from about four and a half miles away.
It is also a bargain, undercutting the Audi S6 and the Jaguar XFR by at least £10,000, and the Merc AMG E63 by £20,000.
The interior is not as special as that in the Jag, but everything else about this car is brilliant - as long as you can stand the 20 miles per gallon.
Under the bonnet lurks a smooth 6.3-litre V8 that often growls through its two huge exhausts. The six speed automatic gearbox in my car matched it perfectly and made sure you always had the power you needed for blistering acceleration.
The handling and road-holding are amazing, the brakes stupendous and it even rides comfortably over rough country roads. If this is your kind of car - go for it.
It comes with sat nav, recaro leather seats, cruise, parking sensors, adjustable suspension, massive if rather ugly alloys, carbon fibre trim and everything else you can think of.
