HYUNDAI'S radical new Veloster model will cost from £17,995.

The compact coupe with its unique 1+2 door configuration for easy rear-seat access will be available in two main trim levels - Veloster and Veloster Sport - and powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder GDi petrol engine, generating 140PS.

There will be the option of a six-speed manual gearbox or Hyundai's first dual-clutch transmission, while the Korean company's Blue drive technologies with Stop/Start and low rolling resistance tyres will ensure CO2 emissions of 137g/km and a combined fuel economy of 47.9mpg.

Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, a Touch screen media centre capable of playing games through consoles and films from smart phones), Bluetooth with voice recognition, climate control air-con, reversing sensors, fog lights and LED daytime running lights.

The Veloster also features a stereo RDS radio/CD player with MP3/WMA compatibility and an iPod connection, with the ability to control all functions on the leather steering wheel for added convenience.

Those going for the Veloster Sport model can expect 18-inch alloys with colour inserts, black leather upholstery with heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, keyless entry with engine start/stop button and alloy pedals.

And a media pack containing sat-nav with rear view parking camera, parking guidance system and seven speakers is also available on the Sport model along with red leather interior.

All Veloster models will be supported by Hyundai's Five Year Triple Care assurance.

Prices are from £17,995 for the Veloster 1.6 GDi rising to £21,745 for the Veloster Sport 1.6 GDi DCT model.
