Gull-wing glory from
Benz boys
A NEW flagship version of the fire-breathing Mercedes-Benz SLS supercar will hit the streets this autumn.
It's the SLS AMG GT with 6.3-litre V8 engine blasting out 591bhp and boasting an optimised AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission and Ride Control Performance suspension.
The headline figures are accelerationfrom 0-62 mph in 3.7 seconds, on to 125 mph in 11.2 seconds and the potential for an electronically limited 198mph.
Visually the new gull-wing GT model boasts darkened headlamps and tail lights, red-painted brake callipers, plus a gloss finish to the wing-shaped cross fins, bonnet fins and exterior mirrors while the AMG logo on the right of the boot lid also features the letters GT.
Enhancing the car's dynamics is the newly developed Performance suspension, which features stiffer damper tuning than Sports suspension and dispenses with ‘Comfort' mode.
‘Sport' mode is the optimum setting for undulating road surfaces and routes requiring increased suspension travel and ‘Sport plus'provides higher damping forces for a more hardcore experience - like trying to achieve fast lap times on a race circuit.
Prices have yet to be announced but the current range-topping SLS AMG costs £168,395.
