COMBINING off-road capabilities with pick-up truck practicality, the mighty Nissan Navara adds another factor into the mix - all the techno treats you could wish for.

This double cab vehicle powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine can cope with all the working demands expected of it with 4x4 capabilities at the turn of a dial, but it also features creature comforts such as leather heated seats, rain-sensing wipers, an excellent satellite navigation system, dual zone climate control, cruise control, and a brilliant sound system - which is another bonus as it's not exactly the quietest of vehicles.

The Navara looks impressive from all angles with a powerful front end, neat light clusters, 17-inch alloys, side steps, rear privacy glass, front fog lamps, roof rails and a larger-than-life loading area with liner and lockable roll top cover which is a £1,590 optional extra.

There is ample room for four occupants to travel comfortably, five at a squeeze and the ride is surprisingly smooth albeit a little bouncy at times.

The driver benefits from excellent all-round visibility thanks to the high seated driving position and light floods into the cabin from all angles creating a bright environment for all.

Another impressive factor about the Navara is its performance. Despite its size, it proves quite nimble and easy to manoeuvre, plus the rear view camera makes parking a lot simpler.

Acceleration through the six-speed manual transmission is nice and responsive and road-holding also very reassuring even on tighter bends.

There are plenty of storage options throughout the cabin including a large double glovebox, deep central bin, door buckets, a pocket in the back of the driver's seat and under-seat storage trays.

Nissan has packed plenty of top notch safety specifications into the Navara including anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, electronic stability programme, numerous airbags and an alarm and immobiliser to keep away any unwanted attention.

All in all, the Nissan Navara is a great piece of kit.

It's ready, willing and able to take on any working challenge but also offers a softer more fun-packed side to its character too.
