upgraded Punto

Fiat Punto Sporting

FIAT is ramping up the style of its Punto supermini range with a series of spec upgrades and a new Sporting trim level.

It means the popular supermini now comes with a revised line-up of four main trim levels - Pop, Easy, GBT and the new Sporting - as well as a choice of five engines.

The previous Lounge and TwinAir trim levels have been deleted from the range with the TwinAir petrol engine now available on both Easy and GBT trim grades.

So the engine line-up now comprises 1.2-litre 8-valve 69bhp petrol, 1.4 8-valve 77bhp petrol, 1.4 16v MultiAir petrol with 105bhp, TwinAir 0.9-litre 85bhp petrol and 1.3 16-valve MultiJet diesel with 85bhp.

Standard kit in the entry-level Pop model includes remote central locking, electric front windows, driver and passenger airbags, window airbags, radio/CD/MP3 player, Dualdrive electric power steering and a height-adjustable driver's seat.

And that spec has been boosted with a new dashboard with diamond embossing, colour-coded door handles and door mirrors and the addition of a driver's knee airbag as standard.

Both Easy and GBT trim levels have also been enhanced with upgraded, sculpted, black fabric seats, front fog lights with cornering function, ambient lighting and side airbags.

Joining the range, the Sporting trim includes stuff like a body coloured rear spoiler and side skirts, gloss black painted roof, sports suspension, ‘Tarmac finish' dashboard, dark tinted privacy glass and 2-tone black alloy wheels.

It is available with the1.4-litre 77bhp petrol engine and the 1.4 16-valve 105bhp MultiAir  unit, and with either three or five doors.

Prices are from £9,950 for the Punto 1.2-litre 69bhp Pop three-door model rising to £14,550 for the GBT 1.3 MultiJet 85bhp five-door.
