HYUNDAI'S sleek i40 has always been a well equipped car - but now the company has gone one better with an all singing all dancing model.

The i40 Premium SE comes with everything you could ever want on a car, and a number of things you probably never thought of.

At just over £28,000 it's hardly cheap, but you do get an awful lot of car and a heck of a lot of kit for your money.

There is, as you might expect on a high spec car, full leather upholstery with memory settings for the driver's seat as well as a very user-friendly sat nav system.

But more unusually not only are the front seats heated but the rear ones are too - much to the delight of two of my passengers one cold night. And in the depths of the winter you can forget your driving gloves because this car also comes with a heated steering wheel.

And when the seasons change and you want to chill you can activate the front seat cooling system.

The range-topping Premium SE has a full panoramic sun roof with electric blind as well as a lane departure warning system and superb xenon headlights with an adaptive lighting system which lights up the corners you are turning into.

In fact the only extra you can pay for on this model is metallic paint.

The i40 in its various guises is proving to be a best seller for Hyundai and it's hardly surprising when you look at the exterior and interior styling.

It‘s one of the sleekest five seater models on the market today with its coupe appearance but with four wide opening doors.

Step inside and it's just as appealing with a sweeping dashboard dramatically angled away from the driver, stylish centre console and plenty of useful spaces for storing on-board items.

The 1.7-litre, 136bhp diesel engine is mated to a seamless six-speed automatic gearbox which can also be used manually via the gear shift or paddles behind the steering wheel.

While not being dramatically quick the engine has plenty of pulling power and delivers it in a very quiet manner ensuring that this is a delightfully refined car to live with.

I also liked the sports car-like handling and good road holding, giving you a car which is an enjoyment to drive rather than just a vehicle to get you from A to B.

Space in the front and back is generous and the boot area is spacious enough to take a substantial amount of holiday luggage.
