Vauxhall reveals a

pocket rocket

Vauxhall ADAM S

THE hot new performance version of Vauxhall's urban chic model has broken cover at the Geneva Motor Show.

A real pocket rocket, the ADAM S features a 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, sports-tuned suspension, VXR braking system and distinctive ‘Red 'n Roll' styling.

With 150PS and 220Nm of torque on tap, the special high performance unit is derived from the existing four-cylinder 1.4-litre engine, but has been exclusively developed for the ADAM S.

It delivers 50 per cent more horsepower and 70 per cent more torque than its naturally-aspirated 1.4-litre stablemate and paired with a six-speed manual gearbox it can fire the car to a top speed of 137mph.

Start/Stop technology is fitted and the engine already meets the future Euro 6 emission standards.

The ADAM S also has a specially-tuned performance chassis and larger VXR performance 'S' brakes including 16-inch front and 15-inch rear discs featuring red-painted calipers on the 18-inch wheels.

Though the show car is still a prototype is does boast many features from the future production version.

Its red body paint is complemented by an anthracite grey roof, there's a rear spoiler and the grille brand bar and door mirror caps both feature a carbon-look.

Inside, there are Recaro Performance leather seats up front plus a unique Red 'n Roll design theme consisting of a leather pack with red leather-trimmed steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake plus red and white flashes on the instrument and door panels.

The close-to-production ADAM S version also has black rear privacy glass, LED daytime running lights, electronic climate control and Vauxhall's IntelliLink system for connectivity and apps.
