THE latest Vauxhall Mokka will hit the roads in late January with prices starting from £24,705 - but the good news for buyers wanting to switch to electric power is that battery-powered versions of the new compact SUV will be up to £4,640 cheaper than before.

Vauxhall has unveiled a new pricing structure that includes significant savings on all electric versions of the Mokka as well as fitting a larger 54kWh battery and more powerful 156PS electric motor providing a single-charge driving range of up to 250 miles.

Prices for the latest Mokka Electric start from £33,245 for the entry level version, rising to £38,095 for the flagship model.

There are significant price cuts on hybrid variants too with prices now starting at £27,305 and buyers benefiting from reductions of as much as £3,250. The new Mokka Hybrid comes with 48-volt technology, combining a 136PS 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 28hp electric motor and electrified six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

As well as electric and hybrid models there's a simplified choice of petrol engines. The 100PS version of Vauxhall's 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol has been replaced by the more powerful 136PS version of the engine paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. A 130PS version is also available with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Design changes have been kept deliberately minimal, says Vauxhall, but include a redesigned front bumper to improve aerodynamics and a black design line running from the bonnet to the rear above the side windows while higher spec versions get black cladding at the front and rear and around the wheel arches and a high-gloss black trim strip running across the lower door surfaces at the rear.

Inside, there's a new simplified steering wheel, high-end switch gear, a new ten-inch digital instrument display along with a ten-inch infotainment touchscreen. Top-spec models feature an upgraded navigation system including EV routing and ChatGPT integration.

The latest Mokka comes in three trim levels - Design, GS and Ultimate - and standard spec across the range includes LED headlights, alloy wheels, automatic headlights and wipers as well as rear parking sensors, driver attention alert, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, speed limiter and high beam assist. Electronic climate control and electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors are also standard.

GS variants come with a gloss black roof, tinted privacy glass rear windows and a shark fin antenna along with ambient interior lighting, a centre armrest and console, grab handles, a rear reading lamp plus a high-resolution 180° rear-view parking camera.

Top of the range Ultimate trim adds enhanced interior comfort features including heated suede seats, driver's seat lumbar support with massage function, a heated steering wheel, electrochromic, frameless rear-view mirror, keyless entry and start and an upgraded infotainment system plus matrix headlights as well as additional driver assistance features including forward brake assist, blind spot alert, front and rear parking sensors, and Active Drive Assist.

Vauxhall MD James Taylor says: "The new Mokka has been subtly refreshed, while maintaining the distinctive Mokka feel. The new pricing structure, aligned with the recent price reductions for Corsa Electric and Astra Electric, now makes the Mokka Electric more affordable than ever for customers, supporting our commitment to making going electric more attainable for all."
