I CANNOT understand why car makers like BMW and Mercedes still ignore touch screens for their information and entertainment systems.
I've just been driving the excellent new Citroen Picasso and its touch screen, which does everything from sort the stereo to setting up the sat nav and the climate control, is completely intuitive and simple to use.
The joystick systems of the exec car makers are a poor joke in comparison.
I drove the Picasso Blue HDi turbo diesel with a smooth 2.0-litre engine and more than enough power for most people.
The six-speed gearbox has an easy, swift change, the clutch is light and the brakes are superb.
Apart from a slight rocking motion on some rougher roads at speed, it is very comfortable, and the road holding is brilliant for such a tall vehicle.
All the instruments and information systems are including in a large, centrally mounted LCD screen that works very well.
And all in all, this is a fabulous family car.
The Tardis-like interior has loads of legroom front and rear, a huge boot with a motorized tailgate and loads of storage all around.
Equipment includes three piece folding rear seats with fore and aft adjustment, phone, stereo and cruise controls on the steering wheel, rear parking sensor, Bluetooth and keyless entry and starting.
