THE Vauxhall Corsa is sharply good looking and has decent space plus good comfort and refinement.
Apart from the top two turbocharged petrol models, the range only offers slow to fair performance in the model built between 2006 and 2013.
The three and five-door models have different shapes and all are good to drive because of the good ride and decent noise insulation.
There is a huge choice of engines but the diesels are the most impressive - especially the parsimonious 1.3-litre used in the ecoFLEX version.
Avoid the 1.0-litre engine - it is boringly slow - and the entry Life or Expression models are short on kit unless you're on a budget.
Instead, go for the still pretty slow 1.2-litre petrol or the 1.3 diesel, in Design trim.
The performance models are very quick but the 1.6T is just as much fun as the top VXR, slightly more comfortable and cheaper.
The interior is well put together, with supportive seats, an excellent driving position and all controls easily to hand.
