Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint

ALFA ROMEO is marking the 60 anniversary of the launch of the original Giulietta Sprint with a new celebration model.

When it hits the streets early next year the latest Giulietta Sprint will cost from £20,490.

The original from 1954 struck a chord with the public thanks to its slick looks and relative affordability, resulting in Alfa Romeo's transition from a low-volume specialist manufacturer to that of a successful premium car brand.

And like that car, the new version is also powered by an engine of less than 1,400cc in capacity, but is equipped with MultiAir valve management and an intercooled turbocharger to boost its power output to more than twice that of the original Sprint's 1.3-litre twin-cam engine.

The new 1.4-litre TB MultiAir petrol unit produces 150bhp and 250Nm of torque and can fire the Giulietta Sprint from 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 130mph.

Its Combined cycle fuel return is 49.6mpg and its CO emissions are low at 131g/km.

Apart from the 150hp engine, the new Sprint also comes with unique features like new 17-inch, five-hole design alloy wheels, special badging on the front wings plus carbon-effect door panels and dashboard surround.

Buyers will also get a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel with red stitching and new seats with cloth and Alcantara upholstery, red stitching and a Sprint logo embroidered into the headrests.

Sprint enhancements also include sports rear bumper side skirts and dark-tinted windows.
