THE fastest production car BMW has ever made will be arriving next year in the shape of the M4 GTS.

With added turbo boost, the car's 3.0-litre engine has been pushed to 500bhp slashing its 0 to 60 time to just 3.8 seconds with a top speed restricted to an incredible 190mph.

In testing the BMW M4 GTS has lapped the Nordschleife circuit at the Nurburgring in Germany in seven minutes 28 seconds - almost 30 seconds quicker than a standard M4.

Only 700 models will be produced and the M4 GTS carries a price tag that is as extreme as its performance - £120,770 - more than double that of the regular model.

BMW says it has engineered the M4 GTS to make it deliver a ‘motorsport-derived driving experience' and has reduced its weight to just over 1.5 tonnes, removing the rear bench seat and fitting carbon fibre bucket seats in the front.

The car also sees BMW's first application of ultra-bright organic LED headlights and more use of carbon fibre in the construction.

Organic light-emitting diodes generate their light using wafer-thin layers of semi-conducting organic materials and unlike conventional LEDs, which emit their light in the form of points, OLEDs light up over their full surface creating a more natural beam.

Despite the awesome firepower of the M4 GTS BMW says it is still capable of an official fuel return 34 to the gallon with emissions of 199g/km.

Of the 700 versions BMW will be producing 30 are slated for the UK market.

The car will make its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month and will be on sale next March with first British deliveries due in June.
