MERCEDES has announced prices for its new E-Class Coupe, available in the UK in AMG Line specification only and offering the choice of one diesel and two petrol engines.

The lead-in price for the luxury coupe is £40,135 for the E 220 d, the E 300 is available from £41,025, while the E 400 4MATIC starts from £50,775 - a premium of some £4,000 over the E-Class saloon.

Power for the E 220 d comes from a 2.0-litre diesel engine, capable of producing 194bhp. It emits just 119 g/km of CO2and can achieve up to a claimed 61.4 mpg on the combined cycle. It can also reach 62 mph from standstill in 7.4 seconds.

The E 300 uses a 2.0-litre turbo-charged petrol engine with an output of 245bhp and Mercedes say it can deliver 40.4 mpg with a sprint time of 6.4 seconds.

Most powerful of the coupe line-up is the E 400 4MATIC which has a biturbo 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine generating 333bhp and it has an acceleration rate of 5.3 seconds from zero to 62mph and consumption of 33.6mpg.

Standard kit on the sleek new Mercedes includes 19-inch five-twin-spoke alloy wheels, high performance LED headlights and tail lights, parking pilot including parking sensors and reversing camera, ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours, 8.4-inch infotainment screen with Garmin navigation system (Comand Online with 12.3-inch screen is standard on E 400 4MATIC), split folding rear seats, active brake assist, steering wheel-mounted touchpads and heated front seats.

An option is the Premium equipment line which costs £2,795 and includes memory package, panoramic sunroof and keyless go comfort package.

Another option, for £1,695, is the driving assistance package which includes drive pilot, active brake assist with cross-traffic function, Drive pilot includes active lane change assist, emergency stop assist and speed limit pilot.

In conjunction with the Premium or Premium Plus packages and a surround-view camera, customers can also opt for remote parking pilot which allows the vehicle to be parked using a smart phone.
