A NEW range topping trim level is being added to the Mazda MX-5 sports car line up as the world's favourite two-seater gears up for motoring in the 2020s.

The GT Sport Tech grade is available on both the convertible and RF fastback versions of the car and is priced from £29,895 and £31,795 respectively.

The high specification model is powered by Mazda's 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G engine with 184ps on tap and features 17-inch alloy wheels and Nappa leather upholstery on the inside.

Automatic transmissions are offered only on the RF variant with prices running from £33,395.

With the GT Sport Tech there are now ten models in the MX-5 line up with prices starting from £23,795 for the 132ps 1.5-litre convertible in SE-L trim.

Other changes for 2020 include extra standard safety equipment on all but the basic versions which adds front and rear brake support, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition and a driver attention alert.

Higher specification versions also get a reversing camera, rear cross traffic alerts and LED headlights as standard.
