RENAULT is bolstering its van-based people-mover line up with the introduction of two new models based on the Trafic.

The Trafic Passenger and the Trafic SpaceClass will be on the road in 2021 and will feature a variety of interior combinations enabling them to be used for everything from executive transport to camper van.

Prices and exact specification are still to be announced but Renault says both will be available with three versions of the company's 2.0-litre diesel engine in either 110, 150 or 170hp specification.

A six-speed manual gearbox is standard on dCi 110 and dCi 150 models, while six-speed EDC dual-clutch automatic transmission features on both the dCi 170 and dCi 150.

The Trafic line up is currently celebrating its 40 anniversary and the two passenger-oriented versions have enhanced onboard storage ability with a boot capable of carrying up to 1,800 litres or cargo.

Mark Sutcliffe, senior vice president of Renault's business alliance unit, said the Traffic Passenger and the SpaceClass would target a wide audience ranging from local authorities and large families, VIP transport or those looking for adventure.
