THE pinnacle of German luxury is being updated with a new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class being released in the middle of 2021.

Prices are expected to be in the region of around £160,000 although this is still to be confirmed.

The new model will be long-wheelbase only and at some 5.4 metres long is more than seven inches longer than the stretched version of the regular S-Class.

Luxury features and options include Maybach's trademark grille, two-tone colour finishes and interior refinement front and rear that includes a choice of up to five display screens.

A 12.8-inch central display screen is standard while a 12.3-inch 3D driver display with three-dimensional representation of other road users is available on request.

The new Maybach S-Class will also feature Mercedes' latest autonomous driving facilities which will allow the car to be travel on certain motorways without any driver intervention.

Other features include the second generation of the MBUX connectivity systems while mild-hybrid powertrains will be fitted, all mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The car is all-wheel-drive and for the first time will come with active noise cancelling to keep the interior as quiet as possible.

Mercedes says the new Maybach is due for release in the UK in the second half of next year and further specifications will be announced later.
