Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid, 2021, charging

SPANISH performance brand Cupra is expanding its electrified offerings with a new Formentor e-Hybrid SUV.

Priced from £38,625 the plug-in version of the SEAT offshoot's flagship model has a 0 to 60 acceleration time of seven seconds and a maximum of 130mph.

Officially it is rated at 188.3mpg with emissions from 33g/km and an electric only range of up to 34 miles.

A full recharge takes around three-and-a-half hours using a standard charger.

The e-Hybrid plug-in will be available in two trims with a higher grade VZ2 model priced from £40,260.

Both have sports styling and come with a 12-inch sat nav display screen, full smartphone connectivity and a fully configurable instrument panel.

The higher specification version adds features such as electrically adjustable and heated leather bucket seats with Cupra's trademark copper stitching and an embroidered logo in the headrest.

Options include a towbar, panoramic sunroof, petrol blue leather trim on the VZ2 only and a range of metallic, premium metallic and matt paint colour options.

First deliveries are expected later in the year.
