WITH a restyled front end featuring massive air intakes, bespoke 17-inch alloys, sideskirts and a redesigned rear bumper, the new Hyundai i20 N Line looks every inch a proper hot hatch.
On sale from Hyundai dealers soon with prices starting at £22,395, this sporty looking newcomer features many design elements taken from the high-performance, rally-inspired i20 N model - also due to go on sale soon - but costs considerably less.
With a one-litre mild hybrid power plant, performance is respectable rather than racy - which is good news for younger drivers who want sporting style without crippling insurance premiums.
The 120PS, three-cylinder engine is fitted as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox and delivers a top speed of 118mph with the 0-60mph sprint ticked-off in around ten seconds - and only marginally less with the optional 7-speed DCT auto transmission.
Reflecting the N-Line's sporting character, the cabin features red accents to the door trims, heating and ventilation controls, as well as red stitching to the N branded seats. A leather N branded steering wheel and gear lever feature as standard, as does a black headlining.
The N Line trim comes with an impressively high specification including LED headlamps and rear combination lamps, LED daytime running lights, a digital instrument cluster plus a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with satellite navigation including traffic messaging, DAB, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluelink telematics. Steering wheel audio and phone controls are standard, as is Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition.
There's also a full suite of safety and assistance tech including an automatic emergency call system, lane keeping assist with lane departure warning, driver attention alert, autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as automatic headlamps with high beam assist.
