PRICES have been announced for the estate version of the new Peugeot 308 which will be on the road in the UK early next year.

The 15 model line up will start from £25,200 and top out at £40,000 - a premium of just over £1,000 on the hatchback models.

As with the hatch, the 308 SW will be available with petrol and diesel engines as well as a plug-in hybrid option.

The diesels - which are powered by a 1.5-litre 130bhp engine - are priced from £26,600 while the plug-in versions cost from £34,200.

The entire range is auto only with all models fitted with Peugeot's EAT8 transmission.

The PHEV models will be available in two power outputs developing either 180 or 225bhp from their 1.6-litre petrol engine powertrain which is mated to an electrical system giving them a zero emission range of up to 39 miles.

Emissions are as low as 25g/km which results in an 11 per cent benefit in kind taxation rating. Emissions for the diesels start from 118g/km with the 1.2-litre PureTech 130 petrol models rated from 121g/km.

Compared to the 308 hatch, the new 308 SW comes with a 57mm longer wheelbase and a 212mm longer rear overhang for improved space and boot volume.

Load volume capacity is 608-litres, extending to 1,634 with the rear seats folded enabling objects up to 1.85 metres long to be carried.
