THE first purely-electric vehicle from Toyota - the bZ4X SUV - will be priced from £41,950 when it goes on sale in the UK next year.

It will be offered in three grades plus a special, high-specification Premiere Edition version which will cost from £51,550.

The name comes from Toyota's recently announced Beyond Zero strategy which will see at least 30 electric vehicles from the brand and its luxury counterpart Lexus arriving by 2030.

Entry level bZ4X Pure models will feature 18-inch alloy wheels, a multimedia system with eight-inch display, a seven-inch digital combimeter, reversing camera, smart entry and start and a climate control system with remote operation function that lets owners warm up or cool their car ahead of a making a journey.

Options on the model - which is front-wheel-drive only - include roof rails and a towing pack.

Mid-grade Motion trim, priced from £45,750, will have a rear spoiler, rear privacy glass, a powered back door, parking sensors and an entry illumination sequence.

Heated front seats - the driver's seat with eight-way power adjustment - and an ambient lighting system as well as a wireless charging tray are standard while options include a fixed panoramic roof, 20-inch alloys and an expanded Toyota T-Mate safety and driver assistance package.

Motion models will also be available as 4x4s and those will be priced from £48,350.

Top grade Vision versions will be priced from £47,650 and include 20-inch alloys, rear parking sensors with an auto-brake function, remote controlled parking assist, synthetic leather seat upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats,a power back door with kick sensor and a heated steering wheel.

Vision models also come with a digital key, allowing the vehicle owner to provide access to the vehicle to others by means of a smartphone ap. 4x4 versions in Vision grade will be priced from £50,250.

The Premiere Edition bZ4X is four-wheel-drive only and over Vision specification adds a JBL sound system as well as the Skyview roof as standard.
