MG ZS EV Standard Range, 2022, front

MG is launching a new Standard Range version of its latest ZS electric SUV priced from £27,495 after the Government's plug-in car grant.

With a range of 198 miles the cars are fitted with a 51.1kWh battery, 6.6kWh larger than the outgoing 44.5kWh model, and come with 35 miles of extra range.

Standard Range versions are available in the same trim levels as the Long Range ZS - SE, Trophy and Trophy Connect.

Equipment levels are also identical regardless of the battery size and the new model is £2,000 cheaper than the longer range variant which according to MG can manage up to 273 miles on a full charge.

Using a 100kW rapid charger the Standard Range ZS can be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent capacity in 36 minutes.

The motor fitted to Standard and Long Range versions is the same but due to the different operating voltage of the battery Standard Range versions have a higher equivalent power output of 176hp compared to the 154hp.

MG currently offers six models in the UK including three plug-in cars - the MG ZS EV, the MG5 EV and the MG HS Plug-in Hybrid. All come seven year warranty.
