THE new Renault Austral E-Tech full hybrid SUV has received class-leading residual values from experts at Cap HPI.

The Austral was rated at retaining 50.1 per cent of its original value after three years and 60,000 miles.

In its report, Cap said: "The new Renault Austral is a huge leap in terms of design and technology compared to the aging Kadjar predecessor.

"The exterior design has a muscular design due to high bonnet positioning and a wide stance. The interior design is in line with all the latest technologies and overall has a premium look due to excellent materials with good fit and finish throughout. Interior room is up there with the best in class as is the ride and handling."

Renault says the Austral is one of the most cost efficient cars available when its pricing and specification are also considered.

"Switching from a conventionally-powered ICE vehicle to an electrified all new Austral E-Tech full hybrid will prove more affordable than many may imagine, with the impressive residual values contributing to lower monthly payments and reducing the Total Cost of Ownership. Ultimately, the residual values are a reflection that customers receive the best value for their money during the current economic situation," the company said.

The Austral has emissions down to 105g/km giving it a 26 per cent BiK rating and has a combined fuel return of 60.1mpg giving it a range of up to 683 miles on a full tank.

Peter Horton, head of fleet at Renault UK, said: "With its unrivalled residual values having a very positive effect on leasing rates, the all new Austral E-Tech full hybrid is even more appealing to fleet buyers. Already offering the safety, usability and supreme connectivity that are so important to business drivers, the confirmed RVs now complete its package. Taking these into account, it means that many companies can transition to a highly-equipped, cutting-edge electrified vehicle in an exceptionally cost-effective way."

The Austral is priced from £34,695 and is available in three trims - techno, techno esprit Alpine, and iconic esprit Alpine with the range topping out from £39,495.

All come with a frameless automatic rear-view mirror, sliding centre console armrest, sliding rear bench seat, and automatic dual-zone air conditioning with air purifier and an upmarket digital experience operated via Renault's 12-inch OpenR multimedia screen with its 12.3-inch driver information display, 9.3-inch head-up display, and a range of Google services built-in.

These include Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to the Google Play store. Two front and two rear USB ports give connectivity to the vehicle's eight-speaker Arkamys audio system.
