MAJOR upgrades are being made to the all-electric Skoda Enyaq giving the vehicle more performance, faster charging, higher equipment levels and a longer range.

To reflect the changes made across the line-up, the new Enyaq comes with a revised naming structure. While the entry-level Enyaq 60 remains unchanged, the Enyaq 80 becomes the Enyaq 85 with the all-wheel drive 80x updated to 85x.

The entry level Enyaq 60, equipped with a 58 kWh battery now has a combined range figure of 249 miles - a three mile increase.

The 85, 85x and vRS models retain the 77kWh battery but offer increased ranges. The largest increase is seen on the Enyaq Coupe vRS, which receives a 16 mile range boost and a new range figure of up to 340 miles.

Skoda is also significantly increasing the power output of most models in the updated line-up. While the Enyaq 60 retains the same 179psmotor as before, 85 and 85x models now generate 286 ps as standard.

This represents an 82ps increase over the previous 80 model and a 21ps increase over the previous Enyaq 80x.

As a result of the power increases, the new Enyaq 85 accelerates from 0-62 mph in 6.7 seconds which is 1.8 seconds faster while the 85xperforms the same test in 6.6 seconds - 0.2 seconds quicker.

Top speed for both model rises to 111 mph - an increase of 12 mph.

The flagship vRS model gets a 41ps power boost to 340ps giving it a 0-62mph time of 5.5 seconds - a one second improvement making the Enyaq vRS the fastest accelerating production Skoda ever made.

Better charging systems see the 85x and vRS now capable of being recharged to 80 per cent from a faster charger in approximately 29 minutes - a seven minute improvement.

Changes are also being made to the interior with clearer graphics and new screen displays being added to all but the entry level model to make them clearer and easier to operate.

Two new Edition trim levels are being introduced which include keyless entry and start / stop, adaptive cruise control, full LED matrix headlights, tri-zone climate control and electric boot operation.

All-wheel drive is now being offered as standard on the SportLine Plus trim, at no premium over the previous rear-wheel drive model, from £48,605. The Enyaq vRS is now priced from £53,120.
