A NEW Ford Kuga SUV has been announced and it comes with design changes inside and out as well as a new four-wheel-drive hybrid powertrain.

There's also a new Active trim level but the previous range-topping Vignale specification is being discontinued.

Prices will start from £32,080 for a manual petrol version in Titanium trim with S-Line, Active and top-spec S-Line X trim lines starting at £38,555.

Top-specification Kuga ST-Line X plug-in hybrids tops the price list from £42,455.

Active models come with extra body cladding and scuff plates as well as a new gloss black grille design and a wooden finish on the dash. The car also has its ride height raised by 10mm to help its performance in tough conditions.

Advanced driver assistance technology includes a new generation Adaptive Cruise Control system thatcan apply the brakes automatically for curves and junctions as well as other traffic, while the 360-degree camera systemoffers an aerial view so that parking, preparing to hitch up a trailer or using an automatic car wash are made easier.

"The Ford Kuga has been a hit with customers since it was first launched in 2008. The new Kuga is our best ever, moving the game forward with new levels of capability, connectivity and comfort," said Jon Williams, general manager, Ford Blue, Europe.

The new Kuga is built in Europe at Ford's Valencia plant in Spain and sales are due to start in Europe this month.
