VAUXHALL has slashed the prices of a raft of its latest battery electric cars with customers set to benefit from savings of more than ten per cent on some models.

Vauxhall chooses to call it a "revised pricing" structure, but the move is clearly designed to keep the company's EV offering competitive compared with cheaper Chinese imports which are coming into the UK in ever-increasing numbers..

There are significant savings on all Corsa, Astra and Astra Touring models, which, Vauxhall says, reflects the brand's commitment to increasing the accessibility of its electric vehicles.

There's a maximum price cut of £4,150 on Corsa Electric models with a new entry-level Design variant now priced at £29,045 while GS and Ultimate versions now costing £31,230 and £33,040 respectively. But there's an even cheaper option in the shape of a recently announced special edition model, dubbed the Corsa Electric YES Edition, which is priced at £26,895

The Corsa Electric Long Range model, which offers a range of up to 248 miles, is also now available in entry-level Design trim for the first time priced from £30,440 while Long Range prices for the GS and Ultimate trims are £32,625 and £34,435 respectively.

Meanwhile, the Astra Electric Design is now priced at £34,945 with GS and Ultimate trims priced at £37,240 and £39,395 representing a saving of up to £3,865 on Ultimate trim. Customers opting for the Astra Sports Tourer Electric now enjoy a £3,850 lower starting price than before, with Design trim available from £36,145. The special edition Astra Electric Griffin is available from £34,995.

And in an industry first, Vauxhall has also revealed that the new Frontera Electric and Hybrid models will both be available for the same list price, making the company the first in the UK to offer list price parity between electric and petrol hybrid versions of the same car. Both versions will start from £23,495 when orders open later this year.

Alongside the new pricing structure, Vauxhall has taken several steps to increase the accessibility of its electric vehicles, including the introduction of an innovative five-year PCP on electric models, resulting in monthly cost parity with equivalent petrol variants over a four-year period as well as a free Octopus Energy Ohme Pro wallbox with installation and up to £1,000-worth of Tesco Clubcard points.

Vauxhall MD James Taylor says: "The new pricing structure is the latest in a number of measures we have taken to democratise access to electric vehicles - including becoming the first brand in the UK to offer an electric and petrol hybrid car for the same list price with the new Frontera."
