NEW hybrid versions of two of Renault's best-selling models are on the way with first deliveries slated for September.

The new electrified E-TECH versions of the Captur crossover and Clio hatchback benefit from technology inspired by Renault's Formula One Team and feature a 1.6-litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors, one of which is a High-Voltage Starter Generator (HSG) and a multi-mode clutchless gearbox,

The Captur Plug-in Hybrid is the French company's first PHEV and benefits from a new petrol-electric powertrain, making it the most efficient and economical model in the range as well as the most powerful. The Clio Hybrid gets a petrol hybrid setup which the company says is capable of completing most urban journeys in zero-emissions electric mode.

Priced from £30,495 - including a 7kW wallbox home charger - the Captur PHEV has a claimed all-electric driving range of up to 30 miles with CO emissions of 33g/km and fuel consumption of up to 188.3mpg. The home charger can charge the Captur's battery from zero to 100 per cent in around three hours

In standard S Edition form, the Captur PHEV comes with a host of standard kit including 17-inch alloys, 9.3 inch touchscreen with sat-nav, wi-fi, Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity and numerous driver assistance systems including lane departure warning, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and blind spot warning. Other fitted as standard features include front and rear parking sensors with a rear view camera and full LED headlights with automatic high beam.

An extra £500 buys the Captur Launch Edition which comes with 18 inch alloys and special exterior and interior styling details.

The new Clio Hybrid comes in the same four trim levels as the rest of the Clio range - Play, Iconic, S Edition and RS Line - and is priced from £19,595 to £22,095. As with the Captur, there's also a special range-topping Launch Edition.

Key benefits of the Clio's hybrid powertrain include fuel economy returns of 64.2mpg and CO emissions as low as 98g/km and the ability of being able to travel up to 38mph in all-electric mode.

All models fitted with the E-TECH Hybrid powertrain get a seven-inch TFT digital driver's display with Hybrid-specific graphics and displays and a standard spec which includes a multimedia system with Bluetooth, DAB and USB connection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition, full LED headlamps with automatic illumination, air-con, cruise control and speed limiter.
