SPANISH performance brand Cupra has announced new engine options and lower prices for its Formentor SUV and the introduction of a potent new estate to its Leon line up.
New petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains have been added to the Formentor range with the e-HYBRID DSG-auto 204ps now costing from £35,770 and 2.0-litre TSI petrol models costing from £32,000 while the new Cupra Leon estate will cost from £38,475.
The estate is powered by a 310ps version of the company's 2.0-litre TSI engine which gives it a 0 to 62mph acceleration of 4.9 seconds and a top speed limited to 155mph.
Officially it is rated 34.4mpg on average with CO2emissions from 186g/km and higher specification versions in VZ3 trim will be priced from £40,535.
Cupra, the performance offshoot of SEAT, says the new variant of Formentor is the most efficient in the range, delivering up to 235.4mpg with CO2emissions from 27g/km with a BiK rating of 11 per cent
The plug-in hybrid powertrain couples a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with a 116ps electric motor and 12.8kWh battery pack to produce a combined 204ps giving it a 0-62mph time of 7.8 seconds and a top speed of 127mph.
It can be driven up to 37 miles on electric power alone and recharged fully in 3.5 hours using a 3.6kW AC charger.
The Formentor TSI DSG-auto 4Drive 190 is available in V1 and V2 trims, with prices starting from £32,000 and £33,830 respectively.
The final addition to the Formentor line-up is the TSI DSG-auto 245ps, which also has a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine, and is available in VZ1 trim priced from £34,155.
VZ1 trim features a series of sporting upgrades, including a rear diffuser, bucket seats, dynamic chassis control, sports suspension and speed sensitive power steering.
