A VERSION of the electrified London black cab designed to cater for disabled passengers has been announced by makers the London Electric Vehicle Company.

The LEVC TX Access enables easy wheelchair manoeuvrability and features a chair restraint system with high-vis grab handles and seat edges to aid entry, seat deployment and exit.

It also has a swivel seat that pivots outside the vehicle allowiing hassle-free access as well as communication equipment such as hearing induction loop, braille embossed controls, and microphone system are fitted as standard.

The Access model is built on the existing TX electric taxi platform, with same eCity hybrid drivetrain providing a total range of 333 miles, with a pure EV range of 78 miles and emitting 14g/km of CO2.

LEVC manufactures the purpose-built, range-extended electric TX at its factory in Ansty, Coventry.
