TWO more plug-in hybrid models are on the way from Mercedes-AMG with the announcement of hot saloon and estate versions of the E 53 Hybrid.
Powered by a 3.0-litre six-cylinder in-line engine and an electric motor developing a total of 585hp the car can reach 62mph from standing in 3.8 seconds with a top speed of 175mph.
The 120-kW electric motor is integrated into the car's nine speed automatic gearbox it has an electric only range of up to 60 miles.
Official fuel return is rated at 348mpg with emissions as low as 19g/km.
The E 53 has fully variable all-wheel drive and active rear-axle steering and comes with a stiffer body as well as illuminated AMG-specific radiator trim with vertical slats.
There are also other specific AMG styling elements such as the side skirts and rear apron with diffuser and two round double tailpipes.
Inside, the E 53 Hybrid has an illuminated trim in grey open-pore ash wood with an AMG logo. The MBUX Superscreen with passenger monitor is available as an option.
Prices are still to be announced but are expected to start in the region of £100,000 when the cars arrive later in 2024.
