VAUXHALL has released the first images of its new Frontera which will be available as a battery-electric variant from launch with the option of variants with 48-volt hybrid technology.

James Taylor, managing director of Vauxhall, said: "With its combination of rugged design, spaciousness, clever solutions and efficient powertrains, our new Vauxhall Frontera will appeal to a wide range of customers who want to stand out from the crowd. It is ideally suited to the urban and sub-urban environment with a fully electric version available from launch."

The new Frontera features the brand's black Vizor at the front of the Frontera as well as Eco LED headlamps with automatic high beam, and the central Vauxhall griffin logo.

Inside it has Vauxhall's fully digital Pure Panel cockpit with two 10-inch displays and Multimedia infotainment system as well as a new steering wheel design.

There's also a cooled wireless charger and two USB ports available in the front and a further two USB ports available in the second row.

Vauxhall says that larger devices that would normally not fit into the cabin properly, such as tablets, can be safely stored in the centre console which has a flexible strap that holds them in place. There are also integrated smartphone pockets in the backrests of the front seats.

The new Frontera has a boot with 460 litres of space and with the seats folded down, the capacity increases to up to 1,600 litres.

Performance data and pricing is still to be announced but with its choice of fully electric or hybrid powertrains it is in line with the brand's pledge to offer a fully electric version of every model by the end of 2024.
