KGM - the Korean brand previously known as SsangYong - is adding a battery electric model to its new Torres SUV line up.

Sitting on the same platform as the Torres 1.5 G-Di turbocharged petrol engine variant, which was released in February 2024, the Torres EVX is priced from £44,495 - almost £10,000 more than the petrol variant.

The EV will be available in two front-wheel-drive specifications of K30 and K40 with the latter priced from £47,495.

Both versions have the same powertrain which uses a BYD lithium iron phosphate blade battery and utilising 'cell to pack' technology.

The Torres EVX achieves a driving range of 287 miles on a single charge and KGM says it is suitable for daily commuting and long-distance travel.

The Torres EVX also has safety features complainant with EU regulations, such as intelligent speed control and safety speed assist.

Inside, the Torres EVX mirrors the layout of the Torres ICE with an ergonomic dashboard and dual 12.3-inch digital screens and has a luggage capacity up to 1,662 litres with a towing limit of 1.5 tonnes.

The Torres EVX also comes with a one million kilometre battery warranty as well as a five-year/100,000-mile manufacturer warranty for the vehicle.

Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Google Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB radio, front USB and AUX ports, TomTom navigation, and wireless phone charging.

The Torres EVX K40 also includes a 3D 360-degree 'surround view' monitoring system for easier parking.
